New Leadership in a New Direction

 Health Insurance:

    Everyone in Texas deserves health insurance and I will fight for EVERYONE to get covered. The health insurance crisis poses a greater threat to Texas than any other issue and needs to be addressed immediately.

• We must set in motion the Texas Health Insurance Plan (THIP).
• Make sure we can cover as many people as possible until THIP comes on line.
• Make sure that THIP has parity in mental and physical health as well as prescription drug benefits and substance abuse policies.

Education:

    Public education is essential to American democracy and economic opportunity, recognizing that a free public education provides all Texans an opportunity to achieve to their fullest potential. 

• We must provide the best learning environment for our children.
• We must provide 100% funding for our schools.

Teachers:

    Teaching is where it all begins.

• We need to make sure that all of our teachers are qualified in the subject they are teaching.
• We need to raise teachers salary to at least the national average.
• Offer students starting college a full paid education if after graduating they will teach at least four years to an underprivelaged school district.
